Parents and/or Guardians,
I wanted to share some exciting news about our school! Last week, Harmony staff voted to move Harmony Elementary School from a traditional elementary school to a STEM Agriculture school. STEM is a great opportunity for our school and the community. It is a program that provides a heavy focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, while supporting our roots in agriculture. The ultimate goal is to have students take interest in STEM at an early age. This program is a project-based learning approach that integrates skills across grade levels. We will expand our partnerships to gain more information and education from the agricultural industry as well. This will be a three-year roll-out process and will begin with one grade level next year; moving to a school wide implementation in the 2017-2018 school year. The school will apply with the state in the 2018-2019 school year to become a recognized STEM school. This will give students a greater understanding of the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math while also preparing them for jobs in the future. Please share our new direction to become a STEM Agriculture School with friends and family. Additionally, we will open our school up in the 2017-2018 school year with an application process for students that are out of district that would like to attend Harmony.
Thank you again for all your help and support to continue to make Harmony a top school in the district. We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to the future of Harmony Elementary School in helping students be successful!
